Proverbs Chapter 13
1 A wise son
heareth his
father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have
said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are
we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass
through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies
our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
2 A man shall eat good
by the fruit of his
mouth: but the soul of the transgressors
shall eat
violence.
Prov 12:14 man shall be
satisfied with good by the fruit of
his mouth: and
the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
3 He that keepeth his
mouth keepeth his life:
but he that
openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Psalms 39:1 (To the chief
Musician, even
to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.) I said, I will take heed to
my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth
with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
Prov 21:23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth
his soul from troubles.
James 3:2 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that
they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 The soul of the
sluggard desireth, and
hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall
be made fat.
Prov 10:4 He becometh poor that
dealeth with
a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 A righteous
man hateth
lying: but a wicked man
is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
6 Righteousness keepeth
him that is
upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
Prov 11
3
The integrity of the upright shall guide
them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy
them.
4
Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but
righteousness delivereth from death.
5
The righteousness of the perfect shall
direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own
wickedness.
6
The righteousness of the upright shall
deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in
their own
naughtiness.
7 There is that maketh
himself rich, yet hath
nothing: there is
that maketh himself poor, yet
hath great
riches.
Prov 12:9 He
that is despised, and hath a servant,
is better than
he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
8 The ransom of a man's
life are
his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.
9 The light of the
righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put
out.
Job 18:5-6
5
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put
out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6
The light shall be dark in his tabernacle,
and his candle shall be put out with him.
Job 21:17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and
how oft
cometh their destruction upon them!
God
distributeth sorrows in his anger.
Prov 24:20 For there shall be no reward to the evil
man; the candle
of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Only by pride cometh
contention: but with the well advised
is wisdom.
11 Wealth
gotten by
vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour
shall increase.
Prov 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but
righteousness delivereth from death.
Prov 20:21 An inheritance
may be gotten
hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be
blessed.
12 Hope deferred maketh
the heart sick: but
when the desire cometh,
it is a tree of
life.
Prov 12:19 The desire
accomplished is sweet to the soul: but
it is
abomination to fools to depart from evil.
13 Whoso despiseth the
word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment
shall be rewarded.
2 Chron 36:16 But they mocked
the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused
his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his
people, till there was
no remedy.
14 The law of the wise
is a
fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Prov 10:11 The mouth of a
righteous man is
a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the
wicked.
Prov 14:27 The fear of the LORD
is a fountain
of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Prov 16:22 Understanding
is a wellspring
of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools
is folly.
2 Samuel 22:6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the
snares of death prevented me;
15 Good understanding
giveth favour: but the way of transgressors
is hard.
16 Every prudent
man dealeth
with knowledge: but a fool layeth open
his folly.
Prov 12:23 A prudent man
concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth
foolishness.
Prov 15:2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright:
but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
17 A wicked messenger
falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador
is health.
Prov 25:13 As the cold of
snow in the time of harvest,
so is a
faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth
the soul of his masters.
18 Poverty and shame
shall be to him
that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof
shall be honoured.
Prov 15
5
A fool despiseth his father's instruction:
but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
31
The ear that heareth the reproof of life
abideth among the wise.
19 The desire
accomplished is sweet to the soul: but
it is
abomination to fools to depart from evil.
Prov 12:12 Hope deferred
maketh the heart sick: but
when the desire
cometh, it is
a tree of life.
20 He that walketh with
wise men
shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 Evil pursueth
sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
Psalms 32:10 Many sorrows
shall be to the
wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall
compass him about.
22 A good
man leaveth an
inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of
the sinner is
laid up for the just.
Job 27:17 He may prepare
it, but the
just shall put it
on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
Prov 28:8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his
substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the
poor.
Eccl 2:26 For God
giveth to a man that is
good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the
sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he
may give to him that is
good before God. This also
is vanity and
vexation of spirit.
23 Much food
is in the
tillage of the poor: but there is
that is
destroyed for want of judgment.
Prov 12:11 Wealth
gotten by
vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour
shall increase.
24 He that spareth his
rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him
betimes.
Prov 19:18 Chasten thy son
while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his
crying.
Prov 22:15 Foolishness
is bound in the
heart of a child; but
the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Prov 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for
if thou beatest
him with the rod, he shall not die.
Prov 29
15
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a
child left to himself
bringeth his mother to shame.
16
When the wicked are multiplied,
transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their
fall.
17
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee
rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
25
The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his
soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
Psalms 34:10 The young lions
do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD
shall not want any good
thing.
Psalms 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;
so shalt thou
dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
