Proverbs Chapter 21
1 The king's heart
is in the hand
of the LORD, as
the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Every way of a man
is right in his
own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
Prov
16:2 All the ways of a man
are clean in
his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the
LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on
the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for
the LORD seeth
not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the LORD looketh on the heart.
24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he
that pondereth the heart consider
it? and he that
keepeth thy soul, doth
not he know
it? and shall
not he
render to every
man according to his works?
Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye
are they which justify yourselves before men; but God
knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among
men is abomination in the sight of God.
3 To do justice and
judgment is
more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel
said, Hath the LORD as
great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey
is better than
sacrifice, and
to hearken than the fat of rams.
4 An high look, and a
proud heart, and
the plowing of the wicked,
is sin.
Prov 6:17 A proud look, a lying
tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
5 The thoughts of the
diligent tend
only to plenteousness; but of every one
that is hasty
only to want.
Prov 10:4 He becometh poor
that dealeth with
a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
6 The getting of
treasures by a lying tongue
is a vanity
tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
2 Peter 2:3 And through
covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise
of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and
their damnation slumbereth not.
7 The robbery of the
wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do
judgment.
8 The way of man
is froward and
strange: but as for
the pure, his work is
right.
9
It is better to
dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling
woman in a wide house.
10 The soul of the
wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his
eyes.
James 4:5 Do ye think that the
scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us
lusteth to envy?
11 When the scorner is
punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is
instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
Prov 19:25 Smite a scorner,
and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath
understanding, and
he will understand knowledge.
12 The righteous
man wisely
considereth the house of the wicked:
but God
overthroweth the wicked for
their
wickedness.
13 Whoso stoppeth his
ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but
shall not be heard.
Matt 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and
with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again.
14 A gift in secret
pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15
It is joy to
the just to do judgment: but destruction
shall be to the
workers of iniquity.
16 The man that
wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in
the congregation of the dead.
17 He that loveth
pleasure shall be
a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 The wicked
shall be a
ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the
upright.
19
It is better to
dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an
angry woman.
20
There is
treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise;
but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Psalm 112:3 Wealth and riches
shall be in
his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
Matt 25:3-4
3
They that
were
foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4
But the wise took oil in their vessels
with their lamps.
21 He that followeth
after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness,
and honour.
Matt 5:6
Blessed are
they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled.
22 A wise
man scaleth the
city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the
confidence thereof.
Eccl 9:14
There was a
little city, and few men within it; and there came a great
king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks
against it:
23 Whoso keepeth his
mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Prov 12:13 The wicked is
snared by the transgression of
his lips: but
the just shall come out of trouble.
James 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man
offend not in word, the same
is a perfect
man, and
able also to bridle the whole body.
24 Proud
and haughty
scorner is
his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 The desire of the
slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 He coveteth greedily
all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 The sacrifice of the
wicked is
abomination: how much more,
when he
bringeth it with a wicked mind?
Jer 6:20 To what purpose
cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane
from a far country? your burnt offerings
are not
acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
28 A false witness shall
perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 A wicked man
hardeneth his face: but
as for the
upright, he directeth his way.
30
There is no
wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
Isaiah 8:9-10
9 Associate yourselves, O ye
people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all
ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken
in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in
pieces.
10 Take counsel together,
and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall
not stand: for God is
with us.
31 The horse
is prepared
against the day of battle: but safety
is of the LORD.
Psalms 3:8 Salvation
belongeth unto
the LORD: thy blessing
is upon thy people. Selah.
