Proverbs
Chapter 22
1 A
good name
is rather to be
chosen than great riches,
and loving
favour rather than silver and gold.
Eccl 7:1 A good name
is better than
precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of
one's birth.
2 The rich and poor meet
together: the LORD is
the maker of them all.
3 A prudent
man foreseeth
the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and
are punished.
4 By humility
and the fear of
the LORD are
riches, and honour, and life.
5 Thorns
and snares
are in the way
of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from
them.
6 Train up a child in
the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart
from it.
Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers,
provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the
nurture and admonition of the Lord.
2 Tim 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
7
The rich
ruleth over the poor, and the borrower
is servant to
the lender.
8 He that soweth
iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall
fail.
9 He that hath a
bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread
to the poor.
2 Cor 9:6 But this
I say, He which
soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which
soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
10 Cast out the scorner,
and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall
cease.
Psalms 101:5 Whoso privily
slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath
an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
11 He that loveth
pureness of heart, for
the grace of his lips the king
shall be his
friend.
Psalms 101:6 Mine eyes
shall be upon
the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he
that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.
12 The eyes of the LORD
preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the
transgressor.
13 The slothful
man saith,
There is a lion
without, I shall be slain in the streets.
Prov 26:13 The slothful
man saith,
There is a lion
in the way; a lion is
in the streets.
14 The mouth of strange
women is a
deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall
therein.
Prov
2:16 To deliver thee from the strange woman,
even from the
stranger which
flattereth with her words;
5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drop
as an
honeycomb, and her mouth
is smoother
than oil:
7:5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from
the stranger which
flattereth with her words.
Eccl 7:26 And I find more
bitter than death the woman, whose heart
is snares and
nets, and
her hands as
bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be taken by her.
15 Foolishness
is bound in the
heart of a child; but
the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Prov 13:24 He that spareth
his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth
him betimes.
16 He that oppresseth
the poor to increase his
riches, and he
that giveth to the rich,
shall surely
come to
want.
17 Bow down thine ear,
and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto
my knowledge.
18 For
it is a
pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall
withal be fitted in thy lips.
19 That thy trust may be
in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to
thee.
20 Have not I written to
thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make
thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou
mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto
thee?
Luke 1:3-4
3 It seemed good to me also,
having had perfect understanding of all things from the very
first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent
Theophilus,
4 That thou mightest know
the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been
instructed.
1 Pet 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and
be ready
always to give
an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope
that is in you with meekness and fear:
22 Rob not the poor,
because he is
poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 For the LORD will
plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled
them.
1 Sam 24:12 The LORD judge
between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but
mine hand shall not be upon thee.
Psalms 12:5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing
of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set
him in
safety from him that
puffeth at him.
24 Make no friendship
with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his
ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
26 Be not thou
one of them
that strike hands, or
of them that are sureties for debts.
Prov 11:15 He that is surety
for a stranger shall smart
for it: and he
that hateth suretiship is sure.
27 If thou hast nothing
to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
28 Remove not the
ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
29
Seest
thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before
kings; he shall not stand before mean
men.
