Satan is far more
intelligent than we are. He has been on his job since before man
was created planning how he would corrupt us. He entices us with
sex, money, fame, and any other of our vices or evil desires.
He is smarter than we
are because he is always aware of the enticing value evil has on
us. He also knows we usually ignore it.
Things that happen
lightning fast, or something that becomes suddenly available to
us that seems to be perfect for us, or just at the right time,
is usually one of the many temptations he lays out in front of
us.
Why is someone who is
good at fooling or deceiving others called “a tricky devil?”
Where do you think that nickname comes from? Have you ever met
someone who was slick? They’re modeling after the devil’s wile
and gile. The devil's deception appears through all kinds of
people.
All of his temptations
bait us with our own desires. If we follow the temptation
we sin. It's that simple. We like it, he lays it in front of us.
We grab it. We sin. He really does nothing other than lay
out the thought. We do the rest. The devil is very slick. With
people, when we know they are slick, their slickness has lost
its effectiveness. This is not true when Satan is slick. He will
get us many times.
But, we can’t blame
Satan, it's his function. That's what he does. Adam and Eve took
his bait then tried to blame their sin on him. It didn't work in
their times, and, blaming others for our wrongs does not work in
our times.
You are responsible for
your own actions, nobody else is. You followed your own
wickedness and evil desires into the sin you committed. It
doesn’t matter who laid a trap, you walked into it on your own
free will and accord. You made the decision knowing it was wrong
and did it anyway. Admit your fault, shut up and repent. God
will forgive you. But, just because He forgives you does not
relieve you of the consequence of the sin.
